ABOUT BURSARIES / SCHOLARSHIPS
WHO CAN APPLY and HOW TO APPLY
PURPOSE: to assist young adults in need in who desire post-secondary education or vocational training leading towards employability.
WHO CAN APPLY: Anyone under age 35, living in South Africa, Rwanda, or Uganda, who meets the following criteria may apply for a bursary.

Since funds are limited, the number and amount of grants each year will depend on availability of funds and the exchange rate with US dollars (USD).
HOW TO APPLY:
DOWNLOAD a Bursary Application Form and read the instructions.
If you do not have access to a printer, you may use the CONTACT page of this website to ask for a Bursary Application Form and a hard copy will be provided to you.
Along with your application form, you must also provide:
b) the fees and any other costs involved; and
c) proof that the school is accredited in the country where it is located
HOW ARE APPLICATIONS REVIEWED AND DECIDED:
Applications will be reviewed by the Director and an Awards Selection Committee consisting of one member of the Board of Directors and one individual living or working in the African community in which the Director is connected. Applicants will be reviewed against the criteria stated above and the availability of funds to support the applicant's desired course of study. Applicants can expect a response within three weeks, therefore applications should be submitted at least one month before school fees would be due.
HOW ARE BURSARIES MANAGED:
Bursaries will be managed by the Director. The Director or her designee will maintain personal contact with each recipient to track their progress and provide caring support, encouragement, and guidance. The Director will keep a copy on file of each recipient's academic transcript. For recipients of renewing grants, a copy of the most recent transcript will be provided to the Director for evaluation before funds will be released for the next term.
Amounts due the school will be paid directly from One Future at a Time to the school for the student's account. For renewing grants, school fees will be paid at the beginning of each term, whereas a one time grant will be paid once at the beginning of the recipient's course of study.
BURSARIES WILL BE DISCONTINUED IF:

- Financial need - which will be assessed by information on the application form
- Clear employment or career goals
- Motivation to advance oneself
- Achievement (To qualify for keeping and renewing a grant, the recipient must maintain grades of at least 70% in all subjects.)
- Good standing with the community and the school, if currently attending
- Character references

b) the fees and any other costs involved; and
c) proof that the school is accredited in the country where it is located
- A copy of your most recent marks from the school you are now attending or attended within the last 2 years

- the recipient loses good standing with the school or the community
- the recipient is no longer in financial need
- the recipient loses contact with the Director
- One Future at a Time does not have enough funds to support the bursary
