DEFINITIONS USED IN THE INFORMATION ABOUT BURSARIES
Application: the “Bursary Application” form provided by One Future at a Time to be completed and submitted to One Future at a Time by anyone hoping to receive a bursary.
Bursary/Scholarship: grants, direct tuition payments, or other funds disbursed by One Future at a Time to or for Recipients. These can be both renewing grants and/or one time grants.
Director: means the Director of One Future at a Time.
Financial need: If you are hoping to pursue further education, you are considered to be in financial need if after paying for food and accommodations (rent, electricity and water), the amount of money available to you from income or other resources is less than R1000 per month or the equivalent in Rwanda francs or Uganda shillings. Good standing with the community: maintaining all standards of conduct and decency as are generally accepted within the Recipient’s community. E.g., refraining from criminal activity.
Good standing with the school: maintaining all standards of conduct, protocol, and decency, and all other requirements as determined by the school.
Minimum grade requirements: maintaining grades of at least 70% in each class in which the Recipient is enrolled.
One time grant: This is a bursary for a license or short-term certificate that would require only one payment of fees to complete.
Organization: means One Future at a Time.
Recipient: anyone who receives a grant or funds from One Future at a Time.
Renewing grant: This is a bursary for a program such as a diploma or degree that would require more than one term to complete. A grant can be renewed if funds are available and the student maintains minimum grade requirements and good standing with the school and the community.
